I had the privilege to begin volunteering at the radiation therapy room at a local hospital today. I provide hand and foot massages to those patients receiving radiation therapy as well as whoever is with them. Could be their spouse, child, or just a friend. I sat there amazed at the courage and strength each patient had. A few spoke of their fears at new treatments that were being talked about. One cried as she spoke of how scared she was to begin chemotherapy due to what she had seen family members go through. A couple said they are bringing their spouse next week. I left there today with a mixture of emotions. Tears welled up in my eyes and a knot formed in my throat as I walked to my car. I thought, "Lord, I did so little today but it seemed to make a difference". I felt so humbled and honored to have been able to be a tiny part of a moment in their day.
I am blessed!
