Aging:  A Fact of Life

Aging is a fact of life.  We are all growing older every minute and there is absolutely nothing we can do about it.  Trust me, I have researched aging and I have found that we cannot stop the aging process.  BUT, we can control to some degree HOW we age.  Here are just a few things we can do to combat the affects of aging:
  • Exercise regularly:  The medical community says we should do some form of exercise at lest 30 minutes a day.  Try taking a brisk walk in your neighborhood, go dancing, or join a community center exercise class that interests you.
  • Keep the brain stimulated:  Read books (who doesn't like to curl up with a good book), work puzzles, volunteer, or learn a new hobby.  Community centers have a wide variety of classes and lectures to choose from.
  • Be social:  Go to lunch with friends, entertain small groups of people in your home, or go to plays or movies together.
  • Eat healthy:  So eat your veggies.  An occasional piece of pie, cake, or scoop of ice cream is fine but a meal it does not make.  Just saying!
  • Attitude:  There is humor in growing older.  We have all seen the cartoons passed around email and Facebook.  We all deal with the effects of aging so why not find the humor in it.  Also try waking up each day and saying "I feel great today!" even if you don't.  You will find over time you will start having a brighter outlook and you just might feel great.

Another way we can control the effects of aging is getting regular therapeutic massages. You know I can't leave that out. Regular therapeutic massages keep the joints lubricated, muscles relaxed, and gives us an overall sense of well-being.  What could be better than that!
