Active Seniors 50+
You can't help getting older. but you do not have to get old. - George Burns
As we grow older we encounter many life changes...health changes, death of a spouse, become a caregiver, just to name a few. We are living longer and more active lives. Therapeutic massage can help manage some of these life changes as well as help with the aches and pains we encounter as we age. Therapeutic massage sessions will be adapted to the individuals health history and activity level. Medications will need to be taken into account as well as certain medical conditions. Some medications, such as blood thinners, would require an adjustment to massage stroke pressure. Medical conditions such as diabetes, varicose veins, heart conditions, to name a few, would also require adaptations to a therapeutic massage session. It is important to inform me of all medications you take as well as any condition(s) that affect you.

In their later years the elderly can have feelings of loneliness, fear, and anxiety which can become overwhelming. Others might feel frustration because they cannot do the things they used to be able to do. A massage session is supportive and caring while using gentle, loving strokes. Health issues, emotional needs, as well as physical needs, are taken into consideration in each session. Interaction with the massage therapist can help by providing the social interaction and caring touch that many elderly do not experience. Sessions can be adapted to any situation.
